JEFFERSON – Tommy Newton Johnson, 59, died Sunday, March 1, 2009.
Born on December 17, 1949, in DeKalb County, he was the son of Mary Ann Camp Johnson of Jefferson and the late Luther Johnson. He was a truck driver for Harrison Poultry in Bethlehem, and was preceded in death by a son, Tommy “Little Tommy” Johnson Jr.; and a brother, Ronnie Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Jones Johnson, Jefferson; children, Tammie Hernandez and Rebecca Johnson, both of Duluth, Patti Moon, Hollywood; stepchildren, J.R. Gross, Covington, Tenn., Dusty Gross, Mumford, Tenn.; Chinoe Jackson, Jefferson; sister, Brenda Davis, Jefferson; brother, Stephen Johnson, Talmo; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 4, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Webb officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Park in Commerce. The family will receive friends Monday, March 2, from 6 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday, March 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Things will never be the same without my dad. He will be dearly missed. His passing still feels unreal, but we are getting through this a day at a time.
