COMER – Beulah Benton Hammond, 94, died Monday, February 23, 2009.
A lifelong resident of Comer, she was the daughter of the late Earle and Alice Nona Benton. She owned and operated the Comer Variety Store and was a longtime active member of Comer Baptist Church. Mrs. Hammond was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hammond; daughter, Sandra Alice Hardeman; sister, Kathleen Pulliam; and brother, James B. “Buck” Benton.
Survivors include her son-in-law, Erwin (Sue) Hardeman, Comer; granddaughters, Terri H. (Howell) Seagraves, Ila, and Paula H. (Curtis) Drake, Comer; great-grandchildren, Alicia Seagraves, Mallory Seagraves, Blaine Seagraves, and Autumn Drake; and loving friend and caregiver, Mrs. Ida Campbell.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 26, at 11 a.m., at Comer Baptist Church with the Rev. Rodney Owens officiating. Burial will be in Comer Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Legg, Jerry Hammond, Johnny White, Dennis Daniel, Darrell Daniel and David Daniel. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Eliza Graham Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m.
