COLBERT – William Coile Wilkins, 85, died Saturday, February 21, 2009, and his wife, Floree Gunter Wilkins, 79, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Mr. Wilkins was born in Clarke County, the son of the late James Hugh and Claudie Lou Patton Wilkins. He was retired from R.L. Hawkins Construction Company, and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Hull Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wilkins was born in Madison County, the daughter of the late David Wright Gunter Sr. and Ruby Wilhite Gunter. For a number of years she worked at Thomas Textile and later at Hodges BBQ. She was a member of Hull Baptist Church.
Survivors include their daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and David Clark, Colbert, and Lisa and Derrick Neill, Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wilkins was also survived by sisters, Jenelle Melton, Colbert, and Wilma Massey, Crawford. Mr. Wilkins was survived by a sister, Lillian Lowe; and a brother, Nathan Wilkins.
Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Wilkins were held Saturday, February 21, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Burial was in Winterville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cody LaCount, Kelly LaCount, Chad Wilkins, Jeff Wilkins, Danny Gunter and Ray Brown.
