WINDER – Barbara Oliver, 69, died Thursday, February 19, 2009.
Born in St. Louis, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Elizabeth Ramsden. She was a member of the W.Y. Smith Sunday School Class at the Winder First United Methodist Church. A graduate of Decatur High School, Oglethorpe University, and the University of Georgia, she was retired from Barrow County Schools after over 30 years of service, after which she was a volunteer at Barrow Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Oliver was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Oliver.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Major Kevin and Donna Oliver, Alexandria, Va., and Major Derek Oliver, Puyallup, Wash.; brother, the Rev. Charles Ramsken, San Leandro, Calif.; and a sister, Noel Noe, Stone Mountain.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 22, at 2 p.m., at the Winder First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Ramsden officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
