GAINESVILLE – Dorothy Blanche Bennett Buffington, 79, died Monday, February 16, 2009, at The Oaks of Limestone, following an extended illness.
Born on May 2, 1929, in Hall County, she was the daughter of the late John and Myrtle Beatty Bennett. She was retired from Lanier Park Hospital and was a member of the South Bend Methodist Church. Mrs. Buffington was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Joe “Hamp” Buffington; and a son, Richard “Rip” Buffington.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Buffington Reed, Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Brian “Buff” and Lisa Buffington, Gainesville; daughter-in-law, Judy Buffington, Gainesville; grandsons, Hunter and Holt Buffington, Gainesville, Matt and Chad Reed, Bethlehem, Bart Buffington, Gainesville, and Brent Buffington, Cleveland; granddaughters, Christy Tapp, Dahlonega, and Dawn Porter, Clermont; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 18, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Revs. Marshall Dale and Deron Crocker officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
