GAINESVILLE – James Carlton Campbell, 87, died Monday, February 9, 2009.
Born on January 16, 1922, in Hall County, he was the son of the late Cornelius Ham and Elizabeth Phagan Campbell. He was a truck driver and a mechanic. He was a member of Springway Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his wife, Amanda Flynn Campbell.
Survivors include sons, Calvin Campbell, Gainesville, and Randy Joe Campbell, Gillsville; daughters, Hazel Gunter, Braselton, Janice Campbell Loving, Martin, and Marilyn Savage, Talmo; brothers, C.H. Campbell, Pendergrass, and David Campbell, Flowery Branch; sisters, Thelma Broome, Pendergrass, and Patricia Parker, Flowery Branch; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 11, at 2 p.m., at Springway Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Stone officiating. Burial will be in Airline Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
