lEDEN, N.C. – Floyd Charles Hill, 82, died Saturday, February 7, 2009, at the Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, N.C.
Born in Franklin County on September 9, 1926, he was the son of the late Lloyd Thomas and Myrtle Hill Hilley. He was a retired loom fixer in the textile industry, and was Baptist. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Hill is preceded in death by his first wife, Senora Imogene Davis Hill; second wife, Pauline Hill; a daughter, Linda Purdy; and grandchildren, Matt Light and Robin Griffin.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Patty Hill, Las Vegas, Nev., Robert Hill, Charlotte, N.C., and Greg and Lisa Hill, Eden, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Johnny Carswell, Morganton, N.C.; stepson and spouse, Roger and Pam Blackwell, Eden, N.C.; stepdaughter and spouse, Janice and Dennis Griffin, Eden, N.C.; stepdaughter, Lorene Wood, Eden, N.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Pat Hill, Douglasville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Fred Hendrix, Martha McKern, both of Canon, Margie Horne, Athens, Dorothy Parker, Mary Donna Carey, Brenda and Doug Lunsford and Betty Bond, all of Royston; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 11, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
