CARNESVILLE – Orin Smith Lunsford Sr., 79, died Thursday, February 5, 2009, at the Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston.
Born in Franklin County on June 10, 1929, he was the son of the late Martin and Etta Smith Lunsford. He was a retired shipping clerk, having worked for Oliver Rubber Company with 35 years of service. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Mr. Lunsford was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Pritchett Lunsford; and a sister, Annie Bell Lunsford.
Survivors include a son, Orin Lunsford Jr., Hoschton; daughters, Elaine Sylvester, Birmingham, Ala., Diane Griffith, Carnesville, and Darnell Albritton, Tupelo, Miss.; a sister, Guynell Whitsel, Royston; special friend, Lou Lunsford, Carnesville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 8, at the Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Allen Carmichael officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.
