ROYSTON – Charles Walker Dixon, 80, died Sunday, February 8, 2009, at his residence.
Born on April 25, 1928, in Madison County, he was the son of the late Robert Wesley and Annie Lou Scarboro Dixon. He was retired from Johnson & Johnson, where he worked in the maintenance department. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and he attended the David’s Home Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Hart Dixon; and a brother, James Dixon.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Phillips Dixon, Royston; a son, Danny Dixon, Watkinsville; daughter, Donna Wilson, Royston; sisters, Pauline Strickland, Bobbie McCollum and Betty Kinley, all of Royston; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 10, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral home with the Revs. Doug Conwell and Malcolm Herndon officiating. Burial will be in the New Bethel Holiness Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
