NICHOLSON – James D. Heaton, 63, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born in Franklin County, he was the son of the late James Henry and Mittie Lee Savage Heaton, and was retired from Reliance. Mr. Heaton was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Helen Palmer Heaton.
Survivors include daughters, Shanda Meacacke, Nicholson, and Darlene Briscoe, Lavonia; son, James Heaton Jr., Commerce; sister, Shirley Argo, Homer; brothers, Leland Heaton, Canon, and Howard Heaton, Royston; grandchildren, Shelby, Kimberly and Justin Kemp, Junior and Aaron Briscoe, and Bethany Meacacke; and a great-grandchild, Madyson Briscoe.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 8, at 2 p.m., at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Stowers officiating. Burial will be in the Howington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
