John Massey

COMMERCE – John W. Massey Jr., 58, died Monday, February 2, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Commerce.

Born in Clarke County, he was the son of Frances Crane Massey and the late John Wilton Massey Sr. He worked with Olen Construction Company as a construction supervisor. Mr. Massey was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Gene Massey.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife Shirley Jarrett Massey, Commerce; daughter and son-in-law, Jami and Nathan Jensrud, Ft. Collins, Colo.; son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Christie Massey, Commerce; sisters, Brenda G. Harris, Cornelius, N.C., and Nancy Worley, Nicholson; and grandson, Braxton James Massey.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Revs. Troy Herbert, Carlton Peters and Dan Fuller officiating. The body will be cremated. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. Pallbearers will be brothers-in-law and nephews and honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Olen Construction Company.
