DAHLONEGA – Dorothy V. Brady, 71, died Monday, February 2, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, following an extended illness.
A lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, she was born on April 19, 1937, the daughter of the late Leila Martin and Grover Riddle. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lumpkin County. Mrs. Brady was preceded in death by her husband, Lucius Brady; a sister, Ethel Riddle Mincey; brothers, Willard R. Riddle, Lloyd Riddle, L.G. Riddle and Hughes Riddle; daughter, Marcia Cape Davis Fletcher; and a son, Anthony Scott Cape.
Survivors include sons, Randy Cape, Talladega, Ala., and Alan Cape, Dahlonega; daughter, Denise Cape Bangs Brunner, Dahlonega; and stepson, Mike Brady, Sterrett, Ala.; grandchildren, Leeland Davis, Lawrenceville, Adrienne Davis Smith, Lula, Kristen Bangs Hill, Hoschton, Christopher Bangs and Andrew Bangs, both of Cumming, Michelle Cape and Anthony Cape, both of North Carolina, Jesse Cape and Lucas Cape, both of Dahlonega, Caitlin Brady Vadini, Macon, and Megan Brady and John Michael Brady, Sterrett, Ala.; seven great-grandchildren; a number of nieces; and several close friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega with the Revs. Allen Swafford, Terry Fields and Russell Burt officiating. Burial will be in Dahlonega Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m.
