COMMERCE – Laura Oneda Sorrow Smallwood, 82, died Sunday, February 1, 2009, at her residence, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Smallwood was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Louise Sorrow Jones and Willie Mozelle Sorrow Massey.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Bealor Smallwood, Commerce; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Benson and Diane Smallwood, Commerce; daughters and son-in-law, Martha Gail Smallwood and Nancy Bell and Eddie Summers, Vickie Dru Worley, all of Commerce; sister, Jackie Sorrow Lewallen, Commerce; eight grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 4, at 4 p.m., at the Morning Star Baptist Church with the Revs. Lev Humphries and David Poston officiating. Burial will be in Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
