COMMERCE – Pearlene Eula Wood, 70, died Friday, January 30, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late James Hubert and Reba Massey Mealor. She was a homemaker and a member of Cabin Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Wood; and a daughter, Melissa Wood.
Survivors include daughters, Beth Porter, Commerce, and Gail David, Nicholson; brother, Jerry Mealor, Commerce; sister, Sara Massey, Cornelia; and grandchildren, Kyle and Lauren Porter, both of Commerce.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 1, at 3 p.m., at Cabin Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Nancy Boorman and Mark Mobley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
