WINDER – Bill Ward, 84, died Thursday, January 29, 2009.
A native of Clay County, Ala., he was the son of the late Ulyses and Annie Lee Bunn Ward. He was a retired automobile mechanic and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by sons, Bobby, James and Raymond Ward; and a granddaughter, Jamie Leigh Ward.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Harris Ward; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Tawana Ward; daughter-in-law, Joanne Ward; grandchildren, Melissa Harp, Chasity Wall and Jessica Riden, all of Winder, Christy Dennis, Alabama; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Scott and Shirley Bramlett, both of Winder, Alice Gabriel, South Carolina; brother, George Ward, Jefferson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Revs. Terry Brock and Roger Hardy officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Carter Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
