COMMERCE – Guy S. Perry, 89, died Thursday, January 29, 2009, at BJC Nursing Home.
Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Luke Henry and Mellie Elizabeth McElreath Perry. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church, where he served as trustee. He was retired from Roper Pump Company and was a United States Veteran of World War II. Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Bridges Perry; and a son, Wayne Perry.
Survivors include sons, Ray Perry, Commerce, and Keith Perry, Winterville; daughter, Carol Brann, Warrenton, Va.; brothers, Lamar Perry, Hoschton, Robert Perry, Danielsville, A.R. Perry, Royston, Henry Grady Perry and L.G. Perry, both of Commerce, James Perry, Demorest; sisters, Martha Black, Hull, Grace Robinson, West Palm Beach, Fla.; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 1, at 2 p.m., at Berea Baptist Church with the Revs. Verlin Reece, Terry James and Henry Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
