WINDER - Royal Wilson Hardegree, 90, died Sunday, January 25, 2009.
A native and lifelong resident of Barrow County, he was the son of the late Callous and Nellie Wilson Hardegree. He was a Marine Corp veteran of World War II, a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons for over 26 years, and Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. Mr. Hardegree was a retired supervisor at Carwood Manufacturing Company with forty-seven years of service. He will be remembered by all whose lives he touched as a strong, quiet man with a quick wit, a firm handshake and an unfailing love for family, friends, God and Country, loved ones stated. Mr. Hardegree was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Daniel Hardegree.
Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia Hardegree; sons and daughters-in-law, Harris and Pat Hardegree, Wayne and Peggy Hardegree, all of Winder; grandchildren, Travis and Susan Hardegree, Kristen Hardegree and Chris Manus; great-grandchildren, Brooke Hardegree and Austin Toole; sister, Daisy Dean, West Palm Beach, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Sara Hardegree, Boerne, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Revs. Phil Carpenter, Shuford Jones and Robert Whitehead officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
