JEFFERSON - Archie Dudley, 47, died Friday, January 23, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Born on December 3, 1961, in Anniston, Ala., he was the son of Gladys Bailey Dudley of Gainesville and the late Walter D. Long. He attended St. Paul Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by a sister, Veretta Dudley.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife, Sheila Ann Dudley, Jefferson; sons, Brian Dudley, Jefferson, Steven Peppers, Talmo, and Jermaine Strickland, Commerce; daughters, Tabitha Rhome, Tamara Rhome, both of Athens, Christina Peppers, Jefferson, and Sisly Wilcoxson, Gainesville; nine grandchildren; brothers, Sherman Bailey, Oxford, Ala., Leon Dudley, Anniston, Ala., and Walter Dudley, Gainesville; sisters, Clement Knight, Gladys Thornton, Ella Sutton, all of Gainesville, Clara Sales, Etherlene Thomas and Rosemary Bowie, all of Anniston, Ala.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
Memorial services were held Monday, January 26, at St. Paul Baptist Church in Jefferson, with the Rev. Dr. Marvin Simmons officiating.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, was in charge of arrangements.
