NEW HOLLAND - Loy Bascom Thomas, 92, died Thursday, January 22, 2009, at Limestone Heritage Nursing Home, following an extended illness.
Born December 12, 1916, in Hall County, he was the son of the late Richard and Mary Lee Thomas. He was a retired textile employee from New Holland Mills, served in the United States Army during World War II, and was of Baptist. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Una Bell Thomas; and son, Ken Thomas. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, loved ones stated.
Survived include sons and daughters-in-laws, Doug and Shirley Thomas, Gainesville, Ron and Sandra Thomas, Sautee; grandsons, Kevin Thomas, Lula, Devon Thomas, Gainesville; granddaughter and husband, Lisa and Matt Martin, Flowery Branch; great-grandsons, Noah and Mason Martin, both of Flowery Branch.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504 in charge of arrangements.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 24, 3 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Smith officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
