ATHENS – Eddie Lee Benedict, 88, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009.
Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Bob and Clyde Collier Benedict. He was retired from Thomas Textile after 46 years of service, and was connected with Bridges Funeral Home during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lula Savage Benedict, Athens, daughter, Kathy Bell, Bishop; sons, Mark Benedict, Nicholson, and Wayman Benedict, Athens; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Friday, January 23, at 2 p.m., at the Prospect United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Wells officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, is in charge of arrangements.
