R.L. Funderburk

MAYSVILLE – R.L. Funderburk, 78, of Maysville, died Friday, January 16, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.

Born on October 9, 1930, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Albert and Rosa Mae Funderburk. He was a painter and a member of Pond Fork Baptist Church. Mr. Funderburk was preceded in death by children, Brenda Gene Bruce, Johnny Lee Funderburk, and Connie Arlene Funderburk.

Survivors include his wife, Nina Lee Funderburk, Maysville; son, James Funderburk, Maysville; daughters, Nola Kathleen Gregory and Julie Ann Reed, both of Jacksonville, Fla., Carol Sue Mensik and Nina Mae Funderburk, both of Maysville; brothers, L.C. Funderburk, Jefferson, T.W. Funderburk, J.W. Funderburk and Johnny Funderburk, all of Pendergrass, Gene Funderburk, Clayton, Larry Funderburk, Toccoa; sisters, Sadie Strange, Covington, Hazel Nix, Fannie Lance and Ruby Franklin, all of Pendergrass; 26 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 18, at Pond Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Knight officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Ward’s Funeral Home, Gainesville, was in charge of arrangements.
