William George Archer, 61, of Gainesville, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, following a short illness.
He was born in Hall County, where he lived most of his life, and was the son of the late Alvin and Florene Tench Archer. He was a welder by trade and was Baptist. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Archer was preceded in death by a sister, Birdie Martin; and brother, Albert Archer.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Archer, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Eric Kish, Gillsville; son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Kristi Free, Gainesville; grandchildren, Stephen and Alesiah Kish, Makerzi, Mason and Luke Free; one great-grandchild, Dakota Baker; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Maxine Archer, Gainesville; sisters, Doris Allison and Pat Garmon, both of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, James and Nell Archer, Oakwood; sister-in-law, Nell Archer, Gainesville; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 10, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Chaplains James Dumas and Bob Fielder officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, was in charge of arrangements.
