COMMERCE – James Louie Vanderford, 71, died Sunday, January 18, 2009, at Athens Regional Hospital in Athens.
Born in Gwinnett County, he was the son of the late Joseph Otis and Ethel Lee Holcomb Vanderford. He was a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Parker Vanderford, Commerce; children, James Todd and Michelle Vanderford, Lawrenceville, Dan Steven and Diane Vanderford, Robbie and Curt Wilson, Tracy and Scott Grisham, all of Commerce; grandchildren, Ginger, Natalie, Jessica, Cassidy Kelly, Kaitlyn, Gabrielle and Dylan; sisters, Louise Wells, Lawrenceville, Shirley Faye Bennett, Snellville; sisters-in-law, Shirley Ann Vanderford, Lawrenceville, Shirley Carey and Nancy Maynard, both of Commerce.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 21, at 11 a.m., at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
