Doris Lackey

DANIELSVILLE – Doris C. Lackey, 80, died Sunday, January 18, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.

Born in Cabarrus County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Walter Carter and Minnie Hall Payne. She was preceded in death by a sister, Magdalene Foutz.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Lackey, Danielsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Deborah Lackey, Hull, Randy and Jayne Lackey, Ila; brother, Kenneth Payne, Lynchburg, Va.; grandchildren, Shanna Hoopaugh, Lee Lackey, Chanda Cowart, Kyle Lackey; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 21, at 2 p.m., at the Community Baptist Church with the Revs. Kent Barrett and Phil Parks officiating. Burial will be in the Lackey-Chandler Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Lackey will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
