LOCUST GROVE - Helen Mize Allison, 84, formerly of Chestnut Mountain, died Saturday, January 10, 2009, in Gainesville.
She was born January 10, 1925, in Jefferson, the daughter of the late Gus T. and Julia Hardy Mize. She graduated from the University of Georgia high school in 1943. She was a member of Chestnut Mountain Baptist Church and lived in Chestnut Mountain after her marriage in 1944. Helen was very family oriented and loved spending time with her family, was very personable and enjoyed reading and babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, loved ones stated. Mrs. Allison was preceded in death by her husband, Grady B. Allison; seven siblings; and a grandson, David Richerzhagen.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Brenda and Lyle Letteer, Locust Grove, Marie Richerzhagen, Ellenwood; granddaughter and her husband, Sandra and Albin List, Gainesville; three great-granddaughters, Stephanie, Brittany and Madeline List, all of Gainesville; sisters-in-law, Bessie and Stella Allison, Chestnut Mountain, Inez Allison, Oakwood, Irene Allison, Gainesville, Laura Bates, Doraville, Lottie Mae Kerns, Newport News, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 13, at 4:00 PM at Little & Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville. Burial will be in the Chestnut Mountain Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, January 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
